DEP AIWorks – AI-Powered Engineering Simulation and Design Optimization
DEP AIWorks is an advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform developed by DEP to accelerate engineering simulation, product development and design optimization. By integrating AI with established Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) methodologies, AIWorks enables engineers to evaluate design alternatives, predict performance and optimize complex products with reduced computational effort.
The platform provides an integrated environment for simulation data generation, AI model development, performance prediction and multidisciplinary design optimization. It complements existing CAE workflows, helping engineering organisations reduce development time while maintaining the accuracy required for critical design decisions.
Physics-Informed AI for Engineering Simulation
A key technology within DEP AIWorks is its use of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs), which combine machine learning with established physical principles. By incorporating governing equations from structural mechanics, fluid dynamics and other engineering disciplines, AIWorks can predict engineering responses without requiring conventional solver runs for every design variation.
Its prediction capabilities cover parameters such as stress, displacement, stiffness, natural frequencies and aerodynamic performance. AIWorks can also generate time-history responses and three-dimensional result fields for detailed design evaluation. An integrated confidence-scoring mechanism helps determine whether AI-generated predictions are sufficiently reliable or whether additional conventional simulation is necessary.
Integrated AIWorks Modules
DEP AIWorks incorporates four principal modules addressing different engineering requirements.
Simulate-AI
Uses physics-informed AI models to predict simulation results across multiple engineering disciplines. By reducing dependence on computationally intensive solver runs, it enables faster evaluation of design alternatives and supports iterative product development.
Features-AI
Automatically recognises geometric features within finite element models, including holes, ribs, fillets, bosses, flanges and welded connections. These features can be converted into parametric controls, allowing engineers to modify designs without repeatedly returning to the original CAD environment.
GEOM-AI
Combines geometry modification with AI-driven performance prediction. Engineers can alter component shapes, dimensions or profiles and rapidly assess performance changes. The module also supports generative geometry development and Digital Twin creation using manufactured component data.
Agentic-AI
Automates multistage simulation workflows by coordinating AI prediction models and conventional physics solvers. It supports multidisciplinary optimization, synchronisation of design variables and automated reporting, while allowing engineers to retain control over critical decisions.
Accelerating Design Optimization
One of the major challenges in applying AI to engineering simulation is generating sufficient high-quality training data. DEP AIWorks addresses this through integration with DEP MeshWorks capabilities, including parametric modelling, CAD / CAE morphing and Reduced Order Modelling (ROM).
These technologies enable engineers to generate multiple design variations from a baseline model. DEP’s Voxelation technology helps organize geometric, material and simulation-result data for AI model training.
The platform also supports Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO), enabling engineers to consider competing requirements such as structural stiffness, crashworthiness, noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), aerodynamics and thermal performance within a coordinated optimization process.
Applications Across Engineering Industries
DEP AIWorks is applicable across automotive, aerospace, railway, heavy equipment, energy and industrial machinery sectors.
By combining predictive AI, generative capabilities, physics-based simulation and workflow automation, DEP AIWorks enables engineering organisations to explore more design possibilities within shorter development cycles.
