Powering Pedagogy: Teaching Engineering through Systems Thinking, AI, and Model-Based Design

This half-day in person seminar is organized by MathWorks & DesignTech in association with Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur designed to help educators and academic leaders understand how systems thinking, artificial intelligence, model-based design are reshaping modern engineering education using MATLAB® and Simulink®. The sessions will demonstrate how AI is being applied to real-world engineered systems—covering concepts such as virtual sensors, reduced-order models, and AI-enabled model-based design (MBD) workflows, to bridge the gap between theory and industry practice.

Participants will also gain insights into MATLAB’s interoperability with other programming languages, enabling flexible, cross-platform development and better alignment with industry engineering toolchains. The seminar further explores end-to-end IoT workflows, from data acquisition and analytics to deployment, highlighting how educators can design curricula and student projects that mirror real-world engineering pipelines.

Beyond technical learning, the seminar emphasizes commercial and institutional value, including preparing industry-ready graduates, aligning curricula with emerging skill demands, accelerating research and innovation, and strengthening industry–academia collaboration. The program concludes with an interactive open-house discussion, offering participants opportunities to exchange ideas, engage with experts, and explore how these approaches can enhance teaching outcomes, graduate employability, and institutional impact.
